Small Town Rodeo
America is replete with icons, the most famous of which is the American cowboy, a rugged metaphor for America’s frontier past. Sadly, today cowboys are a vanishing breed due to our changing climate, modes of food distribution and production, widespread urbanization and reduced economic opportunities. Rodeos are still a way of connecting that community through sport, in fact it is the only sport derived from occupation. It is said that the first professional rodeo was held in Prescott, Arizona in 1888. When shooting small-town, hot and dusty rodeos, they feel so authentic as if nothing has changed over all these decades.
Get me to a rodeo and I am happy as horseshit.
